Relationship with RAG

SCS (Student Community Service) was established in 1977 and every year they applied at the then RAG to get a portion of the funds to help the community. Later RAG decided that SCS was doing such good work that they paid over all the funds raised ever year by RAG to SCS. The SCS’s name was then changed to SRCS.

The largest portion of SRCS’s funds comes from RAG, although SRCS also works with several organisations, and was in the past supported by various funds and trusts. SRCS then uses 70% of the funds to finance their own projects and the remaining 30% is then made available to the community. The community can then apply for funds to finance their own projects and needs.

Role in the Community

Through the Early Child Development category, approximately 800 children’s lives are enriched every year. In the category Child and Youth Development, approximately 1 200 learners are worked with and approximately 700 Vulnerable Adults benefit from the services and programmes of the SRCS. Also, without the assistance of partners such as the Vodacom Foundation and Bafenyi Trust the programme would not have been possible.

Every year SRCS affords members of the community as well as organisations the opportunity to apply for funds to make the burden they suffer easier. Institutions that have already benefitted from these pay-outs are ChildLine, SAWF, the Service Centre for the Aged, the SPCA, Helping Hand and several other organisations. SRCS also liaises with various organisations such as Cansa, SAWF, Rotary, NG Welfare and others.
